Samakal is a Bengali language daily newspaper published in Dhaka, Bangladesh. Samakal started publishing in 31 May, 2005. As of 2007, the circulation of Samakal is around 200,000. Golam Sarwar, a famous journalist serves here as Editor. Maj. Gen. (Retd.) S.M. Shahab Udding serves here as Executive Director, Abu Sayeed Khan serves as Managing Editor of the newsdaily. Abed Khan was also here as editor.

Famous columnists regularly write in this newspaper. Abdul Gaffar Chowdhury contributes every week in `Kaler Ayna (The Mirror of the Time)'. Hasan Azizul Huq, the famous story writer of the sub continent, is another columnist. Justice Habibur Rahman, the former chief advisor of the Bangladesh caretaker government is a regular columnist. Zillur Rahman Siddiqui, Shahriar Kabir, Badruddin Omar,economist Anu Muhammad, Abu Ahmed, and dramatist Mamunur Rashid also write columns.
