Al Akhbar is an Arabic daily newspaper based in Egypt. It was founded in May 1952 as a part of Akhbar el-Yom. It is a state-owned semi-official newspaper. Its current editor in chief is Mohammad Barakat. The Al Akhbar organization also sponsors a four year accredited Egyptian University, Akhbar El Youm Academy, in 6 October City.
